What is Vocaloid Analysis?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Vocaloid Analysis is a series where I analyze Vocaloid songs to try to find the deeper meaning behind them.
I'm no professional, but I'm still able to figure them out. My predictions are also the way I see it, you are allowed to disagree with me, but please do not get mad at me in the comments for not "agreeing" with the way you view the song.
This series isn't meant to ruin anyone's favorite Vocaloid song or distort their view on Vocaloid, it is merely meant for fun.
Personally, I found songs much more enjoyable after I figured out the meaning behind them.

MDKR Analysis
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The title of the song MKDR stands for Mousou Kanshou Daishou Renmei which roughly translates to “Delusion Sentiment Compensation Federation” in English. Federation refers to the boy and the girl seen in the song, they are in a relationship. The title refers to the two lovers in the song, who’s love is miscomprehended because one of them doesn’t feel the same way. The one who is in love is suffering, and being with him is almost like a reward to her; but she’s aware that the love isn’t real.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And now I’ve said it
I want to be at your side just a little more
No, no way, putting this off is annoying
I’m sorry
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The time motif of “now” shows how this one-sided relationship has been going on for a while now, and she finally decided to speak out about it.
She wants to “be at his side a little more” by saying a little, she wants to keep trying to make the love happen, and suppress her suffering by continuing to be with him, which is ironic.
She says that putting off the relationship would be annoying, but she most likely doesn’t realize that leaving him would cause her less suffering.
She’s in denial that the the relationship isn’t working out, which is why she says, “I’m sorry.” She can’t help but want to be with him.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Let’s go home
You’re the carbon to my dioxide
I want to soak in the dream of this bog
Even if you say it’s selfish, I’ll stick my tongue out at you
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
By saying “let’s go home” it shows how she wants to keep staying with him, like they’re a family.
The compound “Carbon Dioxide” is said to show the irony of her feelings. Inhaling and exhaling CO2 is a normal part of life, so he’s basically what is keeping her living (according to her). However, too much exposure to CO2, roughly 10% or more will kill a person. This is slowly killing her, or in other words, she’s becoming suicidal.
She wants to “soak in the dream of this bog.” The bog refers to her affection for him. She trapped herself in the “dream” of being with him, and she doesn’t want to leave the relationship.
She refuses to believe that she is “selfish” by continuing to be with him since he doesn’t feel the same, but she’s going to stay in denial of this and laugh it off.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There’s no anxiety
There’s no future
I want to be reborn wearing that expression
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
By saying that “there’s no anxiety” she’s reassuring herself that there is nothing to worry about the relationship ending, but she is fully aware that there is no “future” of their relationship.
She wants to be “reborn wearing that expression.” The expression is like a mask of denial, she refuses to believe that there is something wrong and she wants to be optimistic. By saying she wants to be “reborn” this also connects to suicide. It shows how she wants to try again, but since there are no do-overs, she wants to try again in another life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And now we know it
We turned to the other side of our hate
And there was no love hiding there
I want these feelings to be realized
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The same time motif “now” is combined with “we know it” is to show how Miku is oblivious to the fact that the boy already knew this wouldn’t work out. She is purposely trying to make it seem like a group thing to deny that the relationship isn’t working.
“Turned to the other side of hate.. no love hiding there.” Love is personified to show how because there is no love there, there is no love between them in existence.
“Want these feelings to be realized.” All Miku wants is to live happily in a relationship with the man, and she’s trying hard to get his attention to show her affection.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Feelings of a spoiled heart fattened by sweets
Let’s say “we’ll turn these fat feelings -> slim”
Let’s become like who we were when we first met
Drawing this happy idealism
Soon these bloodshot wishes will be out of my system
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Spoiled heart fattened by sweets.” By comparing a broken heart to getting fat, it shows how if love doesn’t go well, it’s an extra weight/burden to carry. Because “sweets” are the culprit to this, it shows how love caused the broken heart. (Well no shit Nisa)
“Turn these fat feelings -> slim.” This shows how Miku, refusing to give up on the love, wants to keep trying to relieve the burden of a broken heart by continuously trying to fix things.
“Drawing this happy idealism” Miku is trying to fix this relationship and make things better, but it’s unrealistic and impossible at this point.
“Soon bloodshot wishes will be out of my system.” Creating the time motif of “soon” it shows how soon, everything will end.
By calling the wishes “bloodshot” they are blind wishes and they is aware that they won’t come true.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But the kind of love we can say is “okay”
Is nowhere to be found
And so we’re
The Delusion Sentiment Compensation Federation
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Love we can say is “okay” nowhere to be found.” The love that they think is okay is a love where they both share the same feelings and they’re comfortable. However, in this situation, it is not.
She calls them both the “DSCF” to show how their love is nonexistent at this point.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We embraced love and shouted out our ideals
With nowhere left to go
It’s a foolish MELODY
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“We embraced love and shouted out our ideals.” The time motif of past tense is used to show how in the past they were happy with each other.
She says “with nowhere left to go” right after to show how their love wouldn’t last from the start, and three was no future of their love.
She calls their love a “Foolish Melody” to show how them falling involve from the start was dumb anyways - they were just naïve to pursue the love.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Trying again Recarnation TELEPORTATION
Every time we repeat it, it dies
In accordance with this never ending love
Please, no more love
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Using words of escape, “Again, Recarnation, teleportation.” This shows her suicidal thoughts, and how she just wants to die and start over. She seems to know that even though she tries again, “it dies.” Death imagery is used to show how she’s suicidal, and also that even if she tries again, the love will never work out.
Miku calls her love a “Never ending love” because she keeps coming back to try to fix it, and she’s trapping herself in it.
Now Miku is pleading, “No more love” because she is just suffering and can’t take it anymore.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We did our best
The selfishness of not deciding what to do
Hoping for the future, a self-love DILEMMA
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“We did our best.” Miku again tries to make fixing the love feel like a group thing, then actually it was just her trying hard.
“Selfishness of not deciding what to do.” Ironically, she is criticizing herself for being selfish about the love, and not realizing it.
“Hoping for future.. self-love dilemma.” She is aware that this was a one-sided relationship, that only she felt these feelings for him and that it was a difficult situation for her.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Are you mad
...I’m not mad
The harmony causes us to lose track of the beat
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Miku asks the boy if “he is mad”, but he is hesitant to say that “...he isn’t mad.” Miku is caught up thinking that she’s done something to make him mad, and the fact that he is hesitant shows how he is most likely mad at her.
"Harmony causes us to lose track of the beat.” Their love is compared to music to show how their “harmony” or their love is having problems, and they can’t keep holding onto it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If this were a drama or a movie
I’d ride it out until we reach the credits
But I wouldn’t want to see it again
The development, message and conclusion were too cruel
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“If this were a drama or movie.. ride it out till we reach credits.” She compares her love to a movie to show how she wants to have a happy ending with him.
However she says she “wouldn’t want to see it again” because she knows that this isn’t real.
She critics the movie even, “development, message, conclusion - cruel.” She says this because she knows that if she saw a happier version of her relationship, it would make her feel worse because it isn’t reality.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But the kind of love we can say is “okay”
Unfortunately, we believe in it
That’s why it’s known as:
The Years of Aiming for Affection
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Unfortunately, we believe in it.” Miku continues to make it a group thing, to show how she doesn’t want to feel guilty for something she’s constantly trying to pursue. She believes in a love that is happy, but she knows it is not possible.
She calls her love “The Years of Aiming for Affection.” This time motif shows how this one-sided relationship must’ve have been going on for years, and this whole time she’s been trying to make this love work out.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The phase of hating and protecting love
We start to properly distort it
Isn’t this the worst?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Phase of hating and protecting love.” This shows how at first they were both trying to pursue their love, but now it’s becoming a hateful thing.
They “Start to properly distort it. By saying “properly” they are pointing out how this ending of their love is very cliché, and that’s how a lot of relationships end. Also calling it another grouped thing, it shows how they both ruined it.
Miku asks the question, “Isn’t it the worst?” Because she’s trying to figure out a way to fix it by guilting him.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
At any rate, it’s an interpersonal lubricant
Every time, we fall back into hurting each other
Mixed up together in a love PHILOSOPHY
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
She calls the love an “interpersonal lubricant” to show how love so easily destroys her.
She also says that “every time, they fall back into hurting each other.” She is relating back to how every time she continues to try again, she’s hurting the both of them more and more.
“Mixed up together in a love philosophy” she calls their love a thought to show how it will only be a thought, nothing more than that.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But the kind of lie saying it’s “okay”
Unfortunately, we don’t forget it
And that’s why
That’s why we’re
The Delusion Sentiment Compensation Federation
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The lines were distorted, changing love to “lie saying it’s “okay”” It was chanced to show how their love is a lie and they “don’t forget it.” They are aware that their love will never work out.
Miku then again calls them them the DSCF because you’ve guessed it, their love is nonexistent.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We embraced love and shouted out our ideals
With nowhere left to go
It’s a foolish MELODY
Trying again Reincarnation TELEPORTATION
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Miku continues to think back to the past where their love was working out, but it’s only making her become suicidal and continue to try to start over everything.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Every time we repeat it, it dies
In accordance with this never ending love
Known as:
The Years of Aiming for Affection
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These lyrics are repeated after the verse before to show how even though Miku wants to keep trying again, the relationship won’t work no matter what.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The phase of hating and protecting love
We start to properly distort it
Isn’t this the worst
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
(Repeated Lyrics)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
At any rate, it’s an interpersonal lubricant
Every time, we fall back into hurting each other
Mixed up together in love PHILOSOPHY
Please, no more love
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The song is ended with the line “Please, no more love” to show how she is finally tired of all of the pain and suffering of trying to pursue this nonexistent relationship. She is now pleading for everything to end.

Summary
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
MKDR is about a one-sided relationship between Miku and a boy. At the beginning of their relationship, they were happy together, but as time went on, the boy felt less attraction for Miku.
Miku continued to try to heal the relationship, to be happy with him but she ended up just hurting herself. She becomes suicidal, wanting to try to start over everything, but she knows that she’s going to get hurt every time, and that their love will NEVER happen.
Since she has been suffering, she’s finally had enough of the love in the end, and now she’s pleading for the love to just end already.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ouuch, this song is a beauty. With a pastel PV, you would never guess how depressing it is without seeing lyrics. I mean I guess the noose seen in the PV kinda gives it away.
Honestly this song kiiiiiiinda relatable. And I’ve been analyzing a lot of relatable songs recently lol.
Thank you for reading through my analysis! It means a lot!! Also be sure to request a song you would like me analyze on the Linked Wiki Page.
